Overview of Goodyear ULTRA GRIP ICE WRT (STUDDABLE)

The ULTRA GRIP ICE WRT made by Goodyear features Winter Grip tread compound offers enhanced traction on ice and snow-covered roads from season to season as well as a directional tread pattern that helps channel water and slush away from the tire for enhanced winter traction and handling. The design also incorporates 2D blades in the centre zone offering enhanced starting and stopping power on snow and ice in addition to its 3D TredLock Technology blades in the shoulder zone offering enhanced wet and winter traction. It is also one of the few models featuring rim protector helps protect wheels against accidental curb damage.

I knew these tires from France to have been satisfied on a Volkswagen Transporter T6 for driving in Alp mountain without studded. Then, in Canada I chose the same tires for my Tundra. These tires are unbelievable reliable after 5 seasons on ice with no studded, they are still good ! I never get more than 3 seasons with orher brand. I would like to find the same with studded, it would have to be the best. But unfortunatelly, it is shame that they stopped production not 100%sure but I think they stopped those. They are the best for snow and especialy when roads are icy, very good grip.

What does the “studdable” label mean on a tire?

A studdable tire is a winter tire manufactured with molded holes in the tread, allowing removable metal studs to be installed for enhanced grip on ice and hard-packed snow, particularly useful in freezing rain or extreme conditions. Unlike a studded tire (which comes with studs already installed at the factory), a studdable tire is sold without studs, giving you the option to add them later.
